Mail Client Setup - General Settings

Mail Clients are configured using one of two configurations called
. At Downstate IMAP is preferred.
The basic settings for these clients are as follows:

2. Incoming mail server:
There are three email severs. The server name can be found by login to iNotes. The first part of the URL is the server name you are on. In the following example, the server name is email2.downstate.edu.
In general, the users are grouped as following:
is a #1, not another letter
3. Outgoing server:
is required & using port 465 (for SSL) and port 587 are supported
To use this server, please send a request to the HelpDesk (HelpDesk@downstate.edu) from your Downstate email account including your name, department and contact information.
LDAP or Directory Server
is required and port 389 and 636 are supported. Port 636 for SSL is highly recommended for security reason.
